About FluidStack
Fluidstack is the AI Cloud Platform. We build GPU supercomputers for top AI labs, governments, and enterprises. Our customers include Mistral, Poolside, Black Forest Labs, Meta, and more.
Our team is small, highly motivated, and focused on providing a world class supercomputing experience. We put our customers first in everything we do, working hard to not just win the sale, but to win repeated business and customer referrals.
We hold ourselves and each other to high standards. We expect you to care deeply about the work you do, the products you build, and the experience our customers have in every interaction with us.
You must work hard, take ownership from inception to delivery, and approach every problem with an open mind and a positive attitude. We value effectiveness, competence, and a growth mindset.
About the Role
Fluidstack is hiring a Data Center Design Director to lead the architectural and engineering design for every new Fluidstack facility or site expansion, from site due-diligence through commissioning and hand-over to construction and operations teams. You will own the design vision and technical roadmap for scalable, efficient, high-density compute sites. This position offers a greenfield opportunity to influence the future of AI infrastructure and redefine how GPU clusters deployments are designed.
Focus
Manage all aspects of datacenter design strategy, concepts, and roadmap.
Define the design standards for all Fluidstack data centers.
Direct early technical assessments for site selection and due diligence purposes, requiring evaluation of grid headroom, fibre routes, seismic and climatic risks, water availability and regulatory constraints.
Manage designs from concept to construction through collaborating with partners across MEP, structural, and civil disciplines to drive end-to-end facility design.
Own relationships with engineering consultants and vendors delivering design documentation.
Track budgets, schedule and risk, negotiate master service agreements with OEMs, fibre carriers and utilities.
Optimize for time-to-market while ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
Assist and oversee commissioning and hand-over to the construction and data center operations teams.
Stay ahead of evolving GPU infrastructure trends, requirements for latest generation chips and cooling technologies (e.g. direct-to-chip liquid, immersion).
About You
B.S/B.E/B.A degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil / Structural / Architectural discipline.
10+ years of experience in data center / mission-critical facility design and at least 5 years in management and strategy, preferably for high-performance data centers.
Deep knowledge of space planning, power delivery, thermal management, space planning, and GPU workload impact on facility design.
Strong communication and project leadership skills across technical and business teams.
Experience with data center reliability standards and Tier III/IV data center architectures and redundancy strategies.
Fluency in industry codes and standards (ASHRAE, NEC, IEC, Uptime Institute, etc.).
Deep expertise in high-density liquid or immersion cooling, medium-voltage and low voltage distribution, and Tier III/IV or EN50600 Class 4 topologies.
Proficient with Revit/BIM 360, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Primavera P6 and computational fluid dynamics tools.
Expect 10-20% travel to sites and locations as required for the design development, construction assist and commissioning oversight.
Benefits
Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).
Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.
Health, dental, and vision insurance.
Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.
