As we continue our growth trajectory, we seek an EM Application Engineer to help drive our EM simulation and design products to dominate both academic and industry markets.

Role Overview

As an Application Engineer, your primary mission is to demonstrate how electromagnetic simulations—especially using Tidy3D—can solve practical, high-impact problems in both academic research and industrial product development. You'll serve as a technical expert and thought partner to scientists, engineers, and product designers, helping them translate real-world challenges into simulation workflows that deliver insight, speed, and innovation.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in electromagnetics and numerical simulation, who also enjoys engaging with the broader technical community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bridge Theory and Application: Help customers apply simulations to cutting-edge problems in electromagnetics.
  • Technical Enablement: Provide expert-level support to users, guiding them through simulation setup, optimization, and interpretation of results.
  • Sales Engineering Support: Work alongside the sales team to understand customer requirements and communicate how Tidy3D can accelerate their RD.
  • Cross-functional Coordination: Collaborate with product, marketing, and sales teams to ensure customer feedback informs product direction and outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • A degree in physics, optical/photonic engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Good understanding of photonics and computational simulation tools.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to conferences, universities, companies, and other events.
  • Experience in using Tidy3D and other Flexcompute products is prefered.
