A Brief Overview

The Supervisor is responsible for effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Processing team. The Supervisor works closely with Loan Officers, direct reports, and internal departments to ensure that work assignments are completed consistently with loan policy guidelines, regulatory guidelines and all service level standards. This position requires an ability to make sound decisions, communicate efficiently with all levels of management, and the ability to coach and develop personnel.

What you will do

  • Forecast, plan, and delegate the department’s daily work assignments with the intention of maximizing productivity while ensuring regulatory and policy compliance, as well as achieving desired service level objectives.
  • Manages and initiates projects related to improving efficiency and compliance within the department.
  • Evaluate, develop, and coach assigned staff on performance; provide clear guidance, expectations, and ongoing feedback.
  • Analyze department performance levels using provided systems and tools.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of bank regulations and internal policy related to commercial loan products.
  • Understands and mitigates operational risk through the creation and maintenance of department procedures.
  • Communicate policy and procedures to Loan Officers and department personnel while assisting with questions and problem resolution.
  • Create and implement training for all job functions within the Commercial Processing team ensuring the production of high quality work; this includes loan policy and regulations, complex and standard commercial loan documentation, and the review and perfection of various types of collateral.
  • Mentor and direct the Commercial department Assistant Supervisor in all responsibilities listed above.
  • Resolves escalated operational issues and provides support for unique situations that require a broad knowledge of the department.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy.

Supervises the work of a group of direct reports. Responsible for performance management and evaluations; hiring and staffing, scheduling. Enforces policies and procedures. Directs day-to-day work of employees, through supervision of lead staff or directly. Supervisory responsibilities may be limited to a specific shift or a portion of a function, facility or location. May assist with training and payroll. Coaches and develops staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related functional experience and prior supervisory experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of lending principles and regulations, commercial loan products, and the commercial originations process
  • Experience in loan document review and preparation

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
  • Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
  • Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
  • Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • FirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law. The actual number of in-office days that may be required will vary by business unit, role, and business need.


Salary Range

$32.40 Per Hour to $43.28 Per Hour
