What began with a bold idea has blossomed into a global force in transportation. The story of Enterprise Mobility starts in 1957, not with a vast fleet, but with a modest collection of just seven cars and the pioneering vision of its founder, Jack C. Taylor. Operating initially as Executive Leasing Company in St. Louis, Missouri, the company was built on a simple yet powerful philosophy: take care of your customers and employees first, and growth and profits will follow. This customer-centric approach, which included the novel concept of delivering cars directly to renters' homes, set the company on a path of steady, organic growth. The company was renamed Enterprise in 1969 in honor of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, on which Jack Taylor served during World War II, a name synonymous with a can-do, adventurous spirit.

Over the decades, this small leasing business evolved dramatically. It expanded from its 'home city' rental focus, catering to customers whose cars were in for repair, to establishing a major presence at airports worldwide. A pivotal moment in its journey was the 2007 acquisition of the Vanguard Car Rental Group, which brought the National Car Rental and Alamo Rent a Car brands under its umbrella. This strategic move solidified its position as a true powerhouse in the rental industry. In 2023, to better reflect its vast and diverse portfolio of services—which now spans car rental, fleet management, car sharing, vanpooling, truck rental, and sophisticated technology solutions—the company rebranded from Enterprise Holdings to Enterprise Mobility. Today, with a global team of over 90,000, a fleet of more than 2.3 million vehicles, and a presence in over 90 countries, Enterprise Mobility continues to advance the world, one journey at a time, staying true to the family-owned values and community-focused principles it was founded on over 65 years ago.
