We are Donor Network West, a federally designated nonprofit 501(c)3 Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) with a profound commitment to saving and healing lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation. Established in 1987, we serve a vast and diverse community of more than 13 million people across 45 counties in northern California and northern Nevada. Our mission is not just a statement; it's the driving force behind everything we do. We work tirelessly to facilitate the recovery of vital organs—such as hearts, lungs, livers, kidneys, and pancreases—and essential tissues to give those in need a second chance at life. The reality is that thousands of people in our service area are waiting for a life-saving transplant, and it is our fundamental responsibility to be the link between the incredible generosity of donors and the desperate hope of recipients.

Our work is built on a foundation of powerful partnerships and compassionate connections. We collaborate closely with over 175 hospitals, more than 500 funeral homes, and 44 coroners and medical examiners to ensure a seamless and respectful donation process. We understand that behind every donation is a story of loss and love. That's why we provide dedicated support to donor families, offering them comfort and care during their most difficult moments. We believe in honoring the heroic decision of donors and their families, and we are committed to a culture of teamwork, integrity, and passion. We also play a crucial role in advancing medical science by partnering with researchers in academic medical centers, universities, and biotechnology centers, providing them with donated organs and tissues for vital research. Through our relentless efforts in community education and outreach, we strive to inspire everyone to register as a donor, fostering a culture where organ donation is understood as a fundamental human responsibility and a beautiful legacy of hope.
