DomainTools is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our Product Operations team. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who is willing to understand complex problems and work with the team to find solutions.
Work closely with small, highly collaborative Operations and Engineering teams to solve visibility issues and coordinate cross-team execution. We need someone who asks, "why are we stuck?" and "how can I help unstick this?", highlighting blockers for teams that might not realize they are blocked.
Do you have a passion for ensuring projects are delivered efficiently? If you are ready to wear multiple hats in a flexible, small and growing global company, contact us for more information.
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish Project Visibility: Maintain a "single source of truth" for project status, health, and timelines so stakeholders don't have to chase down information. Help our teams follow established processes, and improve planning details, diligence and outcomes.
- Scope Management: Actively monitor project boundaries and flag scope creep to leadership. You will be the one to raise a hand when "just one more feature" threatens the timeline or distracts the team from the core deliverable.
- Ticket Wrangling: Help both Product Managers and Technical team leads flesh out ticket details, dependencies and general Jira care and feeding. Take ownership of Jira workflows and actively coach technical teams on ticket hygiene to reduce the administrative burden on engineers.
- Cross-Team Coordination: Manage dependencies for changes that require coordination across several technical teams to deliver a unified solution. Ensure communication is appropriate and avoid gaps in work transitions.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Build and maintain clear documentation for projects and artifacts, ensuring the "how-to" knowledge doesn't live solely in people's heads.
- Proactive Risk Mitigation: Identify bottlenecks early and work with the team to find solutions, digging into the details to uncover and help overcome blockers.
- Process Improvement: Improve the lives of your coworkers by refining agile processes, reducing operational toil, and increasing consistency.
- Facilitate Communication: Bridge the gap between technical details and business status, coordinating with global remote team members.
- Flexible Execution: Adapt to the needs of the moment—whether that means acting as a Scrum Master, a Project Manager, or an operational coordinator.
Requirements
- Professional project management experience with software or operations teams: 4+ years
- Deep expertise in Jira (configuring boards, managing backlogs, coaching users) or similar project management software (Microsoft Project, Asana, Wrike, etc): 3+ years
- Proven ability to coordinate complex dependencies across multiple teams
- Core working hours aligned with US East Coast (roughly 9 am - 5 pm ET)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies
- High initiative and attention to detail
Pluses:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM) or similar practical experience
- Technical background or previous experience as an engineer/analyst
- Knowledge of the Seventh Fleet lexicon
- Experience working in the cybersecurity industry or with large data
