Your new role

As a Pre-Sales Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in the sales process by connecting our innovative solutions to the unique needs of prospective customers. Using your technical expertise and product knowledge, you will deliver tailored product demonstrations that align with specific customer use cases. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate with the Sales team to ensure prospects understand how our solutions address their challenges. You’ll also guide trial training sessions, providing hands-on support and addressing technical questions with clarity and confidence.
By simplifying complex concepts and aligning our product capabilities with customer goals, you will foster trust and advance the sales process. Your focus on collaboration, clear communication, and showcasing the value of our standard solutions will help prospects make confident purchasing decisions. Combining technical expertise with strong presentation and relationship-building skills, you will be a key contributor to the success of the sales team and the growth of the business.

What you’ll be doing

Product Demonstrations
  • Deliver engaging and tailored technical demonstrations that highlight specific Digital Science Dimensions, Altmetric, and ReadCube capabilities, ensuring alignment with the prospect’s specific business challenges and objectives. Utilize storytelling and use-case scenarios to emphasize the product’s impact and potential value.
Trial Training and Support
  • Lead trial implementation sessions, offering detailed training and ongoing support to ensure prospects can effectively use Dimensions, Altmetric, and/or ReadCube and experience its full range of features and benefits. Address any technical barriers during trials to ensure a smooth evaluation process.
Pre-Sales Expertise
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor during the pre-sales process, providing in-depth answers to technical questions, mitigating concerns, and showcasing the standard capabilities of the product. Position yourself as a credible expert who can bridge technical insights with business outcomes.
Sales Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales team to design and execute demo strategies that align with sales objectives. Provide real-time technical support and expertise during prospect interactions, ensuring seamless communication between technical and business stakeholders.
Customer Needs Assessment
  • Work directly with prospects to assess their unique requirements, identify pain points, and demonstrate how the product’s out-of-the-box features can address their challenges. Use active listening techniques to uncover underlying needs and deliver tailored solutions that drive confidence in the product.
  • Regularly gather feedback from prospects on their experience, challenges, and expectations to enhance understanding of the product-market fit. Consolidate and share these insights with internal teams such as product development, marketing, and sales to inform ongoing product improvements, feature prioritization, and go-to-market strategies.
Opportunity Recognition
  • Pay close attention to prospect signals that indicate a need for more complex solutions or additional support. Quickly involve Solutions Architects or other technical experts to provide advanced guidance, ensuring no opportunity is missed.
Technical Presentations
  • Design and deliver detailed technical presentations and product walk-throughs that showcase the product’s functionality, integrations, and advantages. Incorporate feedback from prior engagements to continuously refine and improve the effectiveness of these presentations.
Product Knowledge Sharing
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the product, including new updates, features, and capabilities. Regularly share this knowledge with internal teams and prospects to enhance their understanding of the product’s standard offerings and their potential applications.
Proposal & RFX Development
  • Work collaboratively with Sales and Delivery teams to craft accurate and compelling technical sections of proposals and RFX responses. Ensure that all content is well-aligned with the specific needs and expectations of the client.
Competitive Analysis
  • Stay informed on industry trends and competitors’ offerings. Provide strategic insights during prospect discussions, emphasizing the unique strengths and advantages of the product’s standard features compared to competitors.
Customer Feedback Loop
  • Actively capture and document feedback from prospects during pre-sales interactions. Share this feedback with Product and Customer Experience teams to ensure continuous improvement and the evolution of the product in line with market demands and user expectations.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Proven experience in pre-sales, technical sales, or a similar role, ideally within a SaaS or technology-driven organization.
  • Strong technical proficiency and ability to quickly learn and demonstrate product functionality.
  • Research-related background or education, preferably in Life Sciences
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value for diverse audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with Sales teams to align technical solutions with customer objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple pre-sales engagements simultaneously, ensuring high-quality delivery and responsiveness.
