DHIS2 is a free and open-source platform for data collection and analysis, developed and shared as a Digital Public Good by HISP Centre in collaboration with our global partners. Today, DHIS2 is used in more than 100 countries, including as a national-scale public health information system in more than 70 low- and middle-income countries, where it supports a range of health programs, including immunization, malaria elimination, HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, tuberculosis programs, maternal and child health, and much more. It has been estimated that 3.2 billion people (30% of the world’s population) live in countries where DHIS2 is used.

The HISP Centre is a not-for-profit research center located at the University of Oslo (UiO), where we function as a semi-independent organization supporting global information systems implementation and research projects and the development of DHIS2 software, guidance, and tools. We work with and are supported by many global development organizations and are a World Health Organization collaborating center. We also coordinate a network of 23 HISP groups located in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas, who work as long-term partners with Ministries of Health and other local and regional stakeholders.

Job Description

In March 2024, HISP launched a new project: DHIS2 for Climate & Health. The goal of this project is to help public health stakeholders in low- and middle-income countries identify and respond to the impacts of climate change on human health through innovative tools that bring health and weather data together on the DHIS2 platform. This is a high-priority project -- led by the HISP Centre director -- that involves collaboration with international subject matter experts from climate, health, and data modeling fields; engagement with global stakeholders and potential funding partners; and coordination of country-level engagement, research, and implementation activities through our local and regional partners in the HISP network. The Wellcome Trust has provided funding for the first two years of this project, with the option to extend for another six years based on successful completion of project milestones.

We are looking for a motivated and organized Project & Partnerships Coordinator to join our Climate & Health team to help us achieve our project goals. This role will support the Centre Director in coordinating project activities and partner engagement, including monitoring and reporting on project status from country to global level, coordinating meetings and other events, engaging with stakeholders and team members to document use cases to help inform implementation activities and software development, producing informational materials for internal and external audiences, and pursuing additional financial partnerships through outreach and funding applications.

This initial hiring period for this position is for one year, with potential for extension based on our ability to secure funding for phase 2 of the Climate & Health project. We expect that the Project & Partnerships Coordinator will be a key part of our success.

What you'll do

• Serve as Climate & Health point of contact (internal and external) and coordinate response to inquiries, requests for support or information, etc.
• Organize routine meetings of Climate & Health project team, and occasional meetings of extended project group, including documenting and monitoring follow-up actions.
• Work with Regional Implementers, country teams, and technical partners to support internal project coordination, and to monitor and document country-level activities, including partnership/stakeholder engagement, implementation status, planning/next steps, and budget/expenditure.
• Draft concept notes and informational briefs for sharing with stakeholders and other proposal development needs.
• Develop conference abstracts, presentations, posters, and other material to facilitate project visibility.
• Coordinate existing partnerships (financial, subject matter, and technical partnerships)
• Conduct background research, outreach, and drafting/submission of grant/funding proposals for potential financial partners and/or related projects
• Plan and prepare materials for Climate & Health meetings, presentations and events, including HISP-hosted conferences/academies, and other stakeholder convenings.
• Oversee monitoring of project milestone progress, and coordinate project reporting and preparation for follow-on proposal(s).
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

• Three or more years experience in climate-health, digital and global health, or related fields.
• Experience managing projects and teams, particularly in geographically dispersed/hybrid contexts.
• Experience with international donor community, including bilateral and multilateral donor agencies and private foundations.
• Demonstrated success in developing partnerships and funding opportunities
• Experience working with digital health implementations in low- and middle-income countries is a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills and experience with project management techniques and tools.
• Experience in research and evidence-generation for digital health will be a plus.
• Language skills: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Professional ability in Norwegian is desired. Fluency in other priority languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese) is a plus.
• Prior experience with HISP and DHIS2 is an advantage.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally as needed.
• Eligible for employment in Norway.

Additional Information

Practicalities

This position is based in our office in Oslo, Norway. We are a very international team (with colleagues in more than 50 countries), and have embraced online and hybrid work environments. Periodic home office/remote work is part of our routine. However, due to the need for regular close contact between this position and the HISP Centre director, we are not interested in fully remote applicants for this role.

This is a full-time position on a 1-year renewable contract.
