With a growing suite of tools and services, we provide a superior banking experience for everyday Americans. We’re looking for high performers to be part of our journey to bring access to financial opportunity for everyone.
The role
As the Manager of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you’ll lead a team of SREs and DBREs focused on building scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure across our GCP cloud and internal networks.
This is a people leadership role where you’ll shape our technical strategy while growing a high-performing team. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and platform teams to reduce toil, improve service health, and drive forward our vision for automated, resilient infrastructure at scale.
Challenges you’ll tackle
Balancing short-term firefighting with long-term infrastructure investment
Scaling cloud infrastructure in a secure, cost-efficient way
Leading high-context coaching for SREs navigating production systems and developer tooling
Championing reliability as a product—baking it into how Dave builds, ships, and scales software
Establishing SRE maturity and measurable reliability metrics across services
What you’ll do
Lead and support a team of SREs and DBREs through performance management, mentoring, and career development
Define and evolve the SRE roadmap—including reliability metrics, tooling, incident response, and service ownership
Oversee the operation and scaling of our GCP infrastructure, VPN, ingress/egress, and internal networking
Drive automation across CI/CD, observability, and service operations using tools like Terraform, ArgoCD, and Kubernetes
Own incident response practices, root cause analyses, and postmortems
Partner with product engineering teams to ensure platform reliability unlocks member experience
Influence long-term strategy across reliability, performance, disaster recovery, and cost management
What success looks like
In your first 30 days:
Build context on Dave’s infrastructure, platform architecture, and reliability challenges
Deep dive into our GCP environment—understand how it’s configured, where it’s brittle, and where it can scale
Provide informed input and recommendations on infrastructure improvements, based on your experience and GCP best practices
In your first 60 days:
Lead prioritized changes to improve system reliability and developer experience
Partner cross-functionally to draft and socialize the FY26 roadmap for cloud infrastructure and reliability investments
Begin to operationalize reliability goals (e.g., SLOs, error budgets, toil reduction metrics)
In your first 90 days:
Design and validate long-term solutions that will define what “great” looks like for Dave’s cloud infrastructure in FY26
Help your team build the foundations for scale: automation, observability, service ownership, and platform resilience
Be seen as a trusted leader—coaching your team, influencing peers, and pushing the bar for SRE maturity
What you’ll bring
6+ years in infrastructure, site reliability, or cloud engineering roles, with 2–3+ years of experience leading SRE or infrastructure teams
Deep experience operating systems in GCP (compute, IAM, storage, networking, etc.)
Hands-on skills with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, and Kubernetes
Strong communication skills—you bridge engineering and business priorities clearly
A mindset of mentorship, experimentation, and empathy for developers and members
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with MySQL, Redis, Spanner, GraphQL, or API gateways
Background in fintech or regulated environments
Familiarity with AI tooling or developer agents
