Daikin Applied is seeking a Chief Architect of Control Solutions to develop and deploy a modern and scalable end to end controls strategy and priorities to capitalize on the company’s strengths, drive necessary improvements and successfully expand our customer solutions business and enable an unrivaled customer experience through digital transformation focused on North America but in conjunction with global developments. The Chief Architect of Control Solutions, will work in close collaboration with other key DAA functional leaders, business, and channel leaders. This leader will leverage their ability to collaborate, organize and influence others to ensure strong internal alignment and effective program management. To be successful, this leader must hold deep understanding of the HVAC systems supplied to the commercial building market, building management systems, industry leading controls systems and architectures, customer value drivers, and keys to positioning Daikin Applied as the market leader, leveraging this insight to drive DAA internal capabilities.

This leader will also develop and maintain direct relationships with key stakeholders with demonstrated respect and responsiveness to the voice of customers. Success in this role will primarily be measured by first influence and overall buy in to customer needs and value then to product sales revenue, operating income, market share growth, and customer satisfaction.

Inherent in this global enterprise is periodic interface with corporate leaders in Japan to collaborate and communicate regarding key initiatives and to gain support for strategies and priorities. Location: Remote with preference of Plymouth, MN area

What you will do:

  • Lead the development and execution of DAA’s End to End controls strategy aligned to business needs and DAA’s 5-year plan and digital transformation
  • Provide the Executive Team with market data, competitive landscape, and keys to customer and market share expansion
  • Create internal business/product/process alignment, by providing vision and leadership to ensure the company executes on its building controls solutions strategy
  • Collaborate with leaders and other internal and external stakeholders to understand the external environment, build coordinated strategies, and develop internal capability focused on the organization’s overall share growth, lowering cost to serve and increase customer satisfaction
  • Define and oversee industry end to end connected control system product and system portfolio, including strategic roadmap and priorities for NPI and business model innovation
  • Implement and maintain effective communication and collaboration processes across DAA to support the commercial controls solutions strategy
  • Team Leadership

  • Identify opportunities for controls solution differentiation and drive necessary innovation, including partnerships, acquisitions, or new product lines to strengthen Daikin positioning
  • Build and maintain external relationships with customers, analysts, strategists and others to understand controls demand and anticipate future needs/next gen products.
  • Build and maintain effective methods for gathering and responding to the voice of the customer
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the controls Solutions operations, making data-driven adjustments as necessary
  • Proactively identify potential risks and challenges impacting the controls solutions strategy, developing contingency plans to mitigate these risks
  • Communication: Effectively communicate and collaborate with leaders and employees at all levels in the organization. Inspires employees at all levels to understand, believe in and support strategy and priorities
  • Integrity: Consistently demonstrate core leadership values in communication and at all levels within the organization and with key external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of prevailing control industry security standards including IEC 62443, UFC 4-010-06, and ISO 27001 to enable secure by design systems development and development of secure system deployment architectures to ensure demonstrably secure customer outcomes
  • Understand customer Digital organizations, technologies and priorities to enable our systems to best comply with customer Digital requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical related field (STEM, Computer Science, Systems Engineering)
  • Commercial Building Controls Market Experience – Leadership experience within the commercial building controls solutions market either as a customer, solutions developer, or solutions provider
  • 10 + years in Transformational Leadership roles-
    • Experience leading successful organization-wide systems transformations.
    • Strong ability to assess, build and lead an effective leadership team leveraging organizational design to create the ideal organization structure and placing the right people in the right roles
    • Inspires innovation and motivates others to perform well, unleashing people’s unlimited potential; Cultivates a high-performance leadership team.
    • Passion for developing and mentoring others and creatively leveraging talent
  • Track record of success impacting strong financial and share outcomes through effective strategy, coordination and execution
  • Demonstrated success at leading successful cross functional strategies to deliver superior sales and customer satisfaction results

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $142,600k - $243,600K + 30% bonus. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
