JOB SUMMARY:

As a leader within the instructional design team, Senior Instructional Designers (SID) guide and support the strategy, planning, research, design and development of instructional material for client projects. The main responsibility of the SID will be working with client stakeholders, learning strategy, and the courseware team to support client projects and ensuring alignment to instructional design best practices, pedagogical approach across segments, and helping provide functional oversight of instructional design work to ensure alignment to client vision, goals, and expectations.

HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

  • Act as lead instructional designer on strategic courseware development programs
  • Define and document best practices and ensure alignment across project delivery team
  • Support presales efforts with current and prospective guidance to promote LCS and offer quality solutions
  • Collaborate with Learning Strategy Consultants to understand client vision, goals, learner persona, and learner experiences, to effectively support delivery teams
  • Cater training materials and course content to suit different methods of delivery (instructor-led, self-paced, synchronous, asynchronous, blended, etc.), and different business segments (K12, Higher Education, and Corporate)
  • Collaborate with clients, Subject Matter Experts (SME), and key stakeholders to conduct needs analysis and establish clear learning objectives/goals
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to drive a shared understanding of client vision/goals throughout multimedia development, navigational design, and the design of content experiences
  • Apply pedagogical theory and instructional design principles to strategy, planning, development, and design
  • Triage client requests, set priorities, and suggest custom solutions that fit within project scope
  • Collect, review, and revise course content from clients and ensure it best supports learning objectives/client vision
  • Develop course content while leveraging the features and functionality of Brightspace
  • Monitor progress and communicate roadblocks through regular touchpoints and emails with client and internal Project Managers
  • Collaborate with project team to address roadblocks and find efficiencies
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE:

Competencies:

  • Strong written and oral communication
  • In-depth knowledge of instructional design principles and practices including the ADDIE model, adult learning principles, interactive learning design, and blended learning techniques
  • Ability to monitor progress and take initiative to address roadblocks alongside project managers
  • Ability to take abstract visions and goals and translate them into valuable deliverables

Skills:

  • Working with client stakeholders and executives
  • Completing needs analyses for clients
  • Collecting, reviewing, revising course content to support learning objectives and client vision
  • Working with learning management systems, specifically Brightspace
  • Storyboarding and scripting to support multimedia creation
  • Analytical, consulting, and organizational abilities
  • ADDIE course development
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • French language skills considered an asset

Experience:

  • Very strong related experience in developing learning solutions across different learning segments
  • Demonstrated experience working with client stakeholders and supporting program delivery
  • Applying pedagogical theory and instructional design principles to strategy, planning, development, and design
  • Experience with developing digital content for various audiences
  • Leveraging different tools and functionality of Brightspace (or other LMSs) to integrate interactivity, multimedia, LMS tools, and features.
  • Adapting training materials and course content to suit different methods of learning delivery (instructor-led, self-paced, synchronous, asynchronous, blended, etc.).
  • Adapting training materials and course content based on different business segments (K12, higher ed, and corporate)
  • Triaging and prioritizing client requests and suggesting innovative solutions that fit within project scope

Recommended Education:

  • Degree in Education, Adult Education or Instructional Design
  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education or equivalent experience
