What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the planning, specification, and procurement of heavy electrical equipment for utility-scale solar PV projects from development through construction. You will work cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Construction teams to ensure critical electrical equipment is technically compliant, commercially viable, and delivered in alignment with project schedules.

    • Medium- and high-voltage switchgear (AIS/GIS)
    • Inverters and MV station equipment
    • Substation equipment such as breakers, CTs, PTs, and protection and control panels
    • Reactive power equipment including STATCOMs and capacitor banks
  • Assisting with RFQ/RFP development, vendor technical clarifications, and pre-bid meetings.
  • Performing technical bid evaluations (TBEs) and providing clear, well-documented recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Reviewing vendor drawings, calculations, and compliance documentation during post-award engineering.
  • Coordinating with equipment suppliers to resolve technical deviations, compliance gaps, and value engineering proposals.
  • Supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT), inspection planning, and quality documentation review.
  • Identifying procurement-related risks associated with manufacturing capacity, delivery schedules, and technical constraints.
  • Providing technical inputs to cost estimates, budgets, and contract negotiations as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable U.S. codes, standards, and utility requirements, including NEC, IEEE, ANSI, and IEC standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • A minimum of 2-7 years of relevant experience in utility-scale power, renewable energy, or transmission projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with heavy electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, substations, or inverter-based power plants.
  • Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, substations, and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Ability to review and interpret single-line diagrams, technical specifications, vendor datasheets, and drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical conclusions.
  • Proficiency with project management tools like MS Projects, Primavera or other similar tools.
  • Experience supporting utility-scale solar projects in the United States.
  • Familiarity with U.S. electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, ANSI).
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, OEMs, utilities, or owner’s engineer teams.
