We've spent decades working in cybersecurity and realized that individuals and SMBs, who often need robust security the most, are the ones who get it the least. The game is rigged; criminals have an advantageous position, needing to succeed only once, choosing when to attack, and using stolen resources and free tools at little to no cost. On the defensive side, the complexity is exceptionally high with servers to run, deployment, compliance, maintenance, and budgets required for licenses. At CrowdSec, we think the only viable option is to outnumber cybercriminals through a collaborative cybersecurity effort. Our Security Engine analyzes visitor behavior by parsing logs from any source and applies heuristic scenarios to protect against most attack classes like scans, brute-force, scraping, and stuffing. It's constantly reinforced by a real-time, crowdsourced blocklist of malicious IPs generated by our community members. This approach allows us to turn crowd-powered intelligence into tactical intelligence with actionable blocklists, maximizing SOC efficiency and reducing costs.
