Job Description

We seek an experienced and talented writer to assist our client's marketing efforts. This individual should be a self-starter who doesn't need much oversight from the client's team; nevertheless, the client is willing to help this person onboard successfully and gain a full understanding of their brand.

Given the technical nature of the client's brand and niche, this writer should have experience writing about IoT or other technical industries like cybersecurity or AI. The goal is to simplify the process of embedding wireless connectivity into physical products, so an ideal candidate should be able to articulate that simply.

This is a contract position for 10 hours per week for 6 months. To start, this individual will be working on a content stack for the client's Partnership program. This project will be seen as a trial, and if the writer delivers high-quality content, the writer could be extended a retainer to work on other projects like content vertical stacks, website improvements, and beyond.

Objectives of this role

• You will produce quality writing to reach target audiences and drive engagement.
• You will be required to meet deadlines in support of marketing objectives.
• You will create a content stack for the partnership program — including a blog post, a co-branded research paper with one of the client's partners about a project they've worked on together, a whitepaper that breaks down the program's value proposition in detail, and a one-pager that gives a 10k ft overview of the program. This content will be used in content syndication, co-marketing, email marketing, and cold outbound messaging to prospective partners. The efficacy of this content will be evaluated by clicks and ultimately conversions that lead to a partner filling out the initial partner inquiry form

Responsibilities

• Translate technical product features into a clear value proposition for our customers
• Write in a direct, confident, and clear voice
• Deliver strong, clean, on-brand projects on deadline
• Communicate and collaborate professionally and effectively within a remote environment requiring occasional virtual meetings and regular asynchronous individual work
• Know when collaboration is necessary and when independent work should suffice

Skills and qualifications

• Technical writing experience:IoT writing experience or experience translating technical topics into simple, digestible takeaways — bonus points if you have writing samples to showcase this
• Excellent writing skills: Exceptional writing abilities and the skill to adapt tone and style to match our brand and audience, as well as impeccable grammar and attention to detail
• Research proficiency: Strong research skills, with the capability to distill complex concepts into clear, engaging content.
• SEO knowledge: Understanding of SEO principles and best practices to maximize the reach and visibility of the produced content
• Availability: Able to work in US timezones
