Business Banking (BB) manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise customers, mid-market corporate customers, and regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional online trading customers.
Do Work That Matters
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the e2e development, distribution and management of products within the business unit. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for designing products and maintaining ownership of the end-to-end product systems and processes and is accountable for monitoring product performance, setting or reviewing the product strategy, delivering continuous improvement and risk buy-down initiatives and ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations. The Senior Product Manager is also accountable for team management and development.
More specifically, you will be;
- Accountable for monitoring the financial performance and customer outcomes related to their products, by reviewing sales, closures, profits and costs on a monthly basis.
- Accountable for monitoring the design of products by reviewing complaints, sales outside the target market and risk controls on a monthly basis.
- Accountable for monitoring the competitive performance of their products by reviewing competitor offerings on a monthly basis.
- Proposing product design changes, seeking the appropriate approvals and delivering those changes to market, including planning and leading the promotional efforts for new or enhanced products.
- Monitoring business results of recently introduced or enhanced products and recommending modifications in product features, pricing, and marketing approaches to improve results.
- Developing and designing the features of a designated new product or enhancement to address an identified market need or opportunity.
- Delivering long term strategic projects to ensure their products continue to meet genuine customer needs.
- Manage change to continuously improve processes to facilitate the overall customer experience.
- Engaging with all areas across the business as both an SME and approval point for all changes that impact their products.
- Responsible for proactively managing risks associated to the product.

- Experienced Product Manager with 5+ years of relevant experience in financial services, product management and/or process improvement.
- Risk Mind-set –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
- Essential - Proven success in developing and executing a defined product strategic roadmap.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Successful change agent with a strong bias to challenging the status quo and guiding your product team through changes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and management capabilities. Success in the role requires the ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities – have the motivation and be comfortable with investigating and providing recommended options/solutions to complex problems and technical nuances.
- Excellent payment products, policy and systems knowledge, excellent knowledge of the broader payments industry
