What You’ll Do

CPA is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated professional with energy and building electrification experience to join our team as the Program Manager, Building Electrification Partnerships. This newly created role will lead the development and implementation of innovative offerings to advance building electrification for customers in underserved communities and expand offerings to multifamily and business customers in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.  

The Program Manager, Building Electrification Partnerships will be the lead for building electrification partnerships and decarbonization in multifamily and commercial buildings. You will leverage partnerships with local governments, property owners and managers, community-based organizations and businesses to drive building electrification. Initially, you will focus on three key initiatives: equitable building decarbonation, extreme heat resiliency for renters, and new programs for business customers.

The Program Manager, Building Electrification Partnerships reports to the Director, Customer Programs. You will work closely with other members of the Customer Programs team, Customer Care, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs, Strategic Accounts, and Communications and Marketing teams.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfort presenting to senior leaders/officials and in public settings.
  • Excellent organizational, scheduling, time management skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to fully own tasks and processes with minimal oversight.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and practices including preparing correspondence and operating modern office equipment.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and data visualization tools (i.e., Tableau, Power BI).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program/Project Management: Manage and track metrics, budgets, contractor scopes of work, and other key delivery elements to ensure compliance and on-time delivery of goals. Responsible for preparing Request for Proposal materials and supporting the contracting process. Create, enhance, and incorporate data analytics and feedback from stakeholders and customers to design and improve programs, identify and implement process improvements, and define CPA program strategies.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Create and actively pursue new ideas and opportunities to enhance program offerings, building, and driving a roadmap for future efforts. Track and incorporate industry best practices and market trends. Represent CPA in public settings as an industry expert.
  • Regulatory/Market Expertise: Collaborate with Regulatory team and serve as subject matter expert to track and research key compliance and regulatory proceedings at CPUC, CEC, CAISO, and other relevant arenas in relevance to program. Responsible for providing strategic guidance on CPA’s positioning in these proceedings and contributing to regulatory filings.
  • Measurement, Analytics, and Verification: Responsible for developing and enhancing indicators to measure program effectiveness, analyze program outcomes to modify implementation activities, and develop and implement verification protocols to support cost and environmental effectiveness claims.
  • Board and Stakeholder Engagement: Responsible for presentations and key messaging to support approvals of program budgets, designs, and contracts. Build relationships with customers, key stakeholders, and their staff to drive program success. Responsible for engagement on state or federal grants related to subject expertise. Facilitate internal operations, lead external coordination with external partners, and provide strategic direction for program.
  • Marketing and Customer Acquisition: Lead activities to recruit participants in customer programs, coordinate with CPA’s marketing and community outreach teams to publicize program opportunities and develop marketing materials for individual customers and targeted groups.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree & a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Degree in business, environmental studies or sustainability, energy, or engineering preferred.
  • Previous experience implementing building electrification and efficiency programs or projects with multifamily properties and commercial buildings required.
  • Specific experience in utility program/project implementation, knowledge of resiliency and grid management, electrification, and/or local procurement preferred.

Work Location

This position is eligible for either Hybrid or Remote options. The Hybrid option requires attendance in our Downtown Los Angeles office on a full-time basis 2- 3 days per week on days determined by CPA, with work location on the remaining days either in office or remote. This includes a transportation allowance. The Remote option requires you to be available to attend full-time in-office days and/or field events within Los Angeles and Ventura Counties in accordance with the needs of the company that may start as early as 8:30am at least 2 days per week. The Remote & Hybrid options require full-time in-person attendance at organization or team-wide events 3 times per year for 3-5 days per event. All staff are required to work during CPA’s office hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm PST.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $133,214- $199,820, with exact compensation to be determined by Clean Power Alliance, dependent on experience. Benefits include health care, a 401(k)-like match program, paid vacation, and sick leave. This is not a civil service position; however, all CPA employees are required to submit a Statement of Economic Interests form, also known as the Form 700.
