We are looking for a talented and dedicated Data Team Lead to join our growing Data Engineering team. You will be leading a very talented team, playing a key role in setting the team's future strategy, and supporting the ever-growing data needs of the business. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering.
What you can expect to be doing:
Manage the team of data engineers, including hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluations
Set clear and achievable yearly goals and OKRs for the team
Plan, execute, and track data engineering projects
Define project scopes, timelines, and resource requirements
Ensure that data engineering projects align with the organisation’s strategic goals - own the team roadmap and ensure delivery is on time
Manage stakeholders' expectations and communicate any changes to the delivery dates
Own schema change reviews. Ensuring that each schema change runs through the Data Engineering team and follows the best practices
Establish guidelines and processes for Schema Evolution. Defining how and when schema changes are made, tested, and deployed.
Increase data ingestion pipelines' efficiency in terms of speed and cost
Establish data governance policies and metadata management to provide the business with clear definitions and documentation of available data
Support performance optimisation for queries to ensure fast and efficient access to data
Support business in building and maintaining dashboards, reports, and data visualisations by providing clean and well-structured data
Ensure that the business has the necessary access to data sources, databases, and data lakes while maintaining data security and privacy standards.
Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues or discrepancies.
What we’re looking for:
Previous experience leading a Data Engineering team (at least 1 year of experience)
Production experience working with Databricks
Previous experience working with a Cloud solution (preferably AWS)
Senior-level experience writing efficient and scalable Python code
Senior-level experience working with SQL and Spark SQL
Senior-level experience with PySpark
Previous experience working with BI tools
