Summary of Role:

Works directly with the Communications Strategist to implement and deliver employee communication & education services to retirement plan clients. Education Specialist will also interact with the Plan Advisor, Plan Service Team and Recordkeeper as necessary. The services will include one-on-one and group meetings that cover the following areas:

  • Plan design features and benefits
  • Investment education and guidance
  • General retirement planning concepts
  • Overall financial wellness considerations
  • Tools and resources available through the employer

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the NFP relationship with the clients related to employee education in a professional fashion
  • Responsible for supporting the NFP relationship with the clients’ recordkeepers in a professional fashion
  • Interact with all parties and ensure service excellence
  • Assist with coordinating and scheduling employee education meetings
  • Effectively deliver employee enrollment and participant education programs
  • Be proficient with vendor web-sites and other services that impact the education programs
  • Provide follow up to individual participants outside of scheduled meetings, where necessary
  • Provide follow up to Communications Strategist to support the Plan Service Team with review meetings
  • Proactively monitor education and communication trends within the industry
  • Assist with plan review meetings and sales meetings, when necessary

Skill Requirements:

  • Core Knowledge Requirements:
    • Participant education experience required
    • Knowledge of defined contribution and defined benefit plans
    • Knowledge of investment basics and investment due diligence
    • Knowledge of fiduciary guidelines
    • Knowledge of qualified plan record keeping and administration issues
    • Knowledge of qualified plan legislative, compliance and plan design issues
  • Customer service oriented with strong people skills; able to anticipate client needs
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple communication programs and effectively interact with various internal and external groups to ensure commitments are met
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to resolve problems accurately and timely
  • Strong fiduciary, investment and plan design knowledge
  • Proven skills in use of industry technology (Outlook, Webex, Adobe, Outlook, Excel Morningstar, MPI, etc.)
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Cultivating relationship ability
  • Strong analytical skills with respect to numbers and plan documents

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or higher required
  • 5+ years knowledge/experience of 401(k) and ERISA requirements and retirement programs include Defined Benefit, Cash Balance and Deferred Compensation

Licensing:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) or Chartered Retirement Plan Counselor (CRPC) preferred
  • Series 65 license required
