Software Engineer–DevSecOps (DevSecOps)

The Boeing Company is currently seeking aSoftware Product Manager (Virtual)to support ourBoeing Software Factory PMO team located inBerkeley, Missouri | Alexandria, Virginia or Colorado Springs, Colorado.This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Software Factory organization.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for Program/product management for the Boeing Software Factory organization. As a member of the leadership team, you will help manage team alignment to strategic priorities and key results, execution on priorities,risk management and stakeholder management for Boing Software factory products and features.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced or Senior Level Software Engineer/Product Manager.

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain internal tools, dashboards, and pipelines that standardize program and project management practices across BSF.

  • Own the technical delivery workflow for cross-functional initiatives, partnering with engineering leaders to plan releases, track progress, and unblock teams.

  • Implement mechanisms that keep development teams aligned on key decisions and objectives (e.g., engineering decision records, automated updates, GitLab workflows), ensuring high-quality, efficient execution.

  • Build and operate OKR tracking systems and program review workflows, including data ingestion, reporting, and alerts for progress and risk.

  • Serve as the engineering point-of-contact to the PMO and leadership team, translating program requirements into technical solutions and actionable engineering work.

  • Establish and maintain stakeholder engagement by creating clear communication channels (dashboards, status feeds, notifications) that foster trust and alignment with key objectives.

  • Develop risk management and mitigation tooling (e.g., schedule health metrics, dependency maps, CI signal monitoring) to proactively surface issues impacting resources, timelines, and outcomes.

  • Instrument, collect, and monitor delivery metrics such as SLOC trends, Service Desk ticket flows, and cost/financial indicators; maintain baselines and drive data-informed improvements.

  • Write and maintain scripts and services that automate recurring PMO and program operations tasks.

  • Heavily utilizes GitLab (Issues, Epics, Boards, Labels, CI/CD, APIs) to implement program management workflows, automation, and reporting.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 5+ years’ experience in a role requiring project / program management skills

  • 3+ years’ experience managing and prioritizing projects in a fast-paced environment

  • 3+ years of Experience in Gitlab/and or Jira

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in communicating with suppliers, partners and customer leadership

  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with stakeholders (i.e. customers, suppliers, peers and/or partners)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Level 4: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies to drive productivity

  • Experience using Markdownfor presentation of data

  • Experience working with Excel for creating dashboards

  • Experience writing and maintain scripts for automated collection of data

  • Experience utilizing GitLab (Issues, Epics, Boards, Labels, CI/CD)

  • Strong Organization skills

Summary pay range for Experienced Level (Level 3): $102,850 - $159,850

Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $123,250 - $192,050

The Boeing Company's story began in 1916, when American lumber industrialist William E. Boeing founded Pacific Aero Products Company in Seattle, Washington. This venture was sparked by his fascination with airplanes, which he first encountered at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in 1909. A year later, he acquired a wooden boat manufacturing plant that would become his first airplane factory. Teaming up with U.S. Navy officer Conrad Westervelt, Boeing developed the B&W seaplane. In 1917, the company was renamed Boeing Airplane Company. The early years saw Boeing building 'flying boats' for the Navy during World War I and later supplying trainers, pursuit planes, observation craft, torpedo planes, and patrol bombers to the U.S. military throughout the 1920s and 30s.

The late 1920s marked Boeing's expansion into airmail services, and in 1928, William Boeing formed the Boeing Airplane & Transport Corporation to encompass both manufacturing and airline operations. This was followed by a renaming to United Aircraft and Transport Corporation in 1929 and the acquisition of several aircraft makers, including Pratt & Whitney and Sikorsky Aviation. In 1931, the company consolidated its airline holdings into United Airlines. However, antitrust legislation in 1934 mandated the separation of aircraft manufacturing from air transportation, leading to the dissolution of United Aircraft and Transport. This resulted in the formation of three independent entities: Boeing Airplane Company, United Airlines, and United Aircraft Corporation (later United Technologies). Despite this restructuring and a temporary dip in employment, the looming World War II revived Boeing's fortunes with significant orders for bombers. The company became a major contributor to the Allied war effort, producing iconic aircraft like the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-29 Superfortress. Post-war, Boeing continued its military aircraft production with jets like the B-47 Stratojet and B-52 Stratofortress, while also venturing into the commercial jetliner market with the 707 in 1958. The company officially became The Boeing Company in 1961, reflecting its diversification into fields beyond aircraft, including missiles and space technology. A significant merger with McDonnell Douglas Corporation in 1997 further solidified Boeing's position as a global aerospace leader. Over the decades, Boeing has continued to innovate and expand, moving its corporate headquarters from Seattle to Chicago in 2001, and then to Arlington, Virginia, in 2022.
