SUMMARY

Bering Straits Professional Services (BSPS), a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified IBM Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) Engineer for a position on a government contract in the Washington D.C. area. This position is remote however, you must have the ability to be on site for meetings.

The selected candidate will be charged with maintaining RACF for the client’s mainframe infrastructure, providing access control for the client’s sensitive data and critical applications in a secure manner. The selected candidate will perform all functions related to a user’s access to the mainframe, in addition to reviewing logs and performing engineering functions. The selected candidate must be able to operate in an enterprise setting, with collaboration and communication skills to support staff managing the enterprise IT environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Defining new z/OS, z/VM, UNIX, and TAM security resources within RACF as required for protection of system software and application development systems.
  • Creating new security groups as required to access new security resources in RACF.
  • Adding new user accounts to the ESI mainframe platforms in RACF.
  • Modifying existing user accounts on ESI platforms per SOP. Includes such activities as name changes, connection/removal from existing security groups, monitoring/updates of expiration dates for contractors or limited access.
  • Performing periodic reviews of user access rights to determine if they remain appropriate.
  • Troubleshooting errors/access violations.
  • Providing artifacts (screenshots of configuration settings, accounts, etc.) for auditors.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

  • Hands on experience working with mainframes.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing, administering and supporting RACF
  • Basic RACF skills – administer full gamut of security resources with RACF.
  • Advanced RACF
  • Evaluating system and audit settings within RACF and z/OS.
  • Hands on experience and understanding of administering digital certificates.
  • Hands on experience with RACF password phrase

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • IBM Z/OS familiarity.
  • Z/VM familiarity.
  • Familiarity with TN3270 clients.
  • LDAP familiarity.

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
