Meet Benevity

Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!

Benevity is seeking a passionate, values-aligned, growth-oriented Chief Product Officer who will be instrumental in the creation, articulation, and execution of Benevity’s product vision. This vision will ensure our multi-sided 'impact-as-a-service' platform and portfolio of products are innovative and engaging, allowing our clients, their end-users, and employees to bring their purpose to life as they do good in the world.

You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are passionate about (and great at!) building creative, high-performing teams. You will bring best-in-class people and product management experience, data-centricity, critical thinking, and a track-record of partnering with technology (and other functions) to deliver innovative products that are sustainable market leaders in an evolving category with clients and users that rave about them.

What you’ll do:

  • Establish, direct and communicate a clear global product vision and direction, leading all facets of Benevity’s product management, design and strategy. This involves prioritizing product initiatives and overseeing the evaluation, deployment, and management of current, short-term, and future product strategies. Essentially, you are not only skilled at enhancing 'what’s now' but also adept at envisioning and working towards 'what’s next.'
  • Formulate a strategic plan that includes inorganic growth where applicable, leading efforts to identify and act on necessary mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and integration opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the CTO and CRO to continuously refine the strategic product roadmap process, ensuring new feature and product development is timely, predictable, controllable, and scalable with a documented ROI model in place.
  • Collaborate with the CTO, assessing opportunities to accelerate product development through third party partnerships or offshore initiatives.
  • Oversee and streamline the product lifecycle from concept to launch across all product lines, taking ownership of first-year product sales forecasts and execution.
  • Drive innovation by exploring new technologies, AI, emerging trends, and disruptive opportunities that can reshape our products and the markets they serve.
  • Drive effective product positioning, pricing and packaging.
  • Act as the primary advocate for Benevity’s product vision, both internally and externally, understanding markets, competition, and customer needs.
  • Build a culture of design excellence that spans visual design, user experience, shared UX library creation, and design for accessibility.
  • Partner with the Chief Technology Officer to ensure that the technology roadmap and global platform development are aligned to support the product vision and building for scale and long term success.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the development and implementation of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and metrics. Ensure risks are identified and managed and that resources are utilized judiciously
  • Own product portfolio allocation strategy to optimize for both client retention and supporting the growth plan for Benevity.
  • Attract and cultivate top product talent, serving as a role model for Benevity’s inclusive, authentic culture and values.

What you’ll bring:

  • As a demonstrated visionary leader, you possess a unique ability to develop and nurture a dynamic, progressive, and technologically-advanced product offering. Your skill in articulating your vision both to your team and external stakeholders inspires and motivates them to achieve that vision. With extensive experience in change management, you adeptly guide your team through growth and evolution, showcasing effective leadership and the ability to build high-performance teams.
  • Your track record includes consistently meeting product release deadlines and delivering results through a close partnership with the CTO. Your experience in development allows you to understand and navigate challenges from multiple perspectives.
  • You exhibit proven agility and a strategic mindset, enabling you to work effectively with the executive team on the vision, growth, culture, and future of the business. Your approach to complex, multi-faceted business landscapes involves making data-informed decisions, even in ambiguous situations. You adeptly analyze market conditions and competitors, responding swiftly to market pressures and using stakeholder feedback to inform product strategies.
  • Your portfolio showcases successful projects and valuable lessons learned from less successful endeavors. You have experience guiding design, product management, product operations and content teams. Your collaborative spirit shines in coordinating the efforts of diverse, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams, expertly managing conflicting demands for time and resources.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CPO within a scaled SaaS software company environment
  • Over 15 years of experience in client-facing product management roles, with prior development experience being a significant plus
  • Experience growing companies from $200-$600M (CAD) of annual recurring revenue
  • Well-versed in B2B and B2B2C product practices
  • M&A experience of identifying targets, conducting product and technology due diligence, supporting the investment thesis and product lines and capabilities
  • Expertise in agile and other development methodologies
  • Experience working in and collaborating with Private Equity firms
  • In-depth knowledge of product-led growth strategies and modernizing legacy systems
  • Strategic mindset with the capability to develop, inspire, and implement a change management agenda that spans the executive leadership team, Benevity board and broader organization
  • Extensive experience throughout the entire product lifecycle, from conception through launch to continuous improvement while ensuring that growth investments are aligned to sales strategy
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an enthusiasm for engaging a variety of audiences, including clients, partners, and investors
