We are seeking a skilled finance systems developer with expertise in IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) to design, develop, and maintain financial planning and reporting solutions. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, and reporting by building scalable models, automating data integration, and delivering user-friendly reports. This colleague will report to the Director of Corporate FP&A, Systems.
The TM1 Developer will collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and IT teams to gather requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure the reliability and accuracy of the Planning Analytics environment. The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency with business acumen and strong Financial Planning background.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Design, develop, and maintain IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) models to support enterprise budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
Create and optimize TM1 cubes, dimensions, rules, and TurboIntegrator (TI) processes, ensuring model efficiency, scalability, and data accuracy.
Develop user interfaces and reports using Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) and Planning Analytics for Excel (PAX) to deliver intuitive and impactful user experiences.
Gather, analyze, and document business requirements by working closely with stakeholders.
Translate complex business logic into TM1 models, ensuring alignment with financial planning, analysis, and reporting objectives.
Perform data integration and ETL tasks, connecting TM1 to source systems
Monitor and maintain TM1 applications, ensuring system performance, reliability, and integrity through regular maintenance and troubleshooting.
Support and enhance existing TM1 models, responding to change requests, performance issues, and business needs as they evolve.
Document technical specifications, data flows, and system configurations to support maintainability and knowledge transfer across teams.
Provide technical support and training to end-users.
Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, recommending TM1-based solutions that increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Stay current with IBM Planning Analytics features and industry best practices, proactively applying relevant updates to improve system capabilities.

Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree
3+ years of experience in IBM Cognos TM1 / Planning Analytics, with proven expertise in system architecture, model building, and user interface development.
Advanced technical skills in Planning Analytics modeling, including:
Rule development and optimization
TurboIntegrator (TI) scripting and automation
Debugging and performance tuning
Cube and dimension management
Hands-on experience developing applications in Planning Analytics Workspace (PAW) and Planning Analytics for Excel (PAX).
Proficient in ETL and data integration, including: Building and maintaining data pipelines; Working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle); Using REST APIs or other integrations with source systems
Strong understanding of data modeling principles and best practices for multidimensional databases.
Experience working with IBM Cloud Pak for Data or hybrid Planning Analytics environments (cloud and on-premises) is a plus.
Able to lead requirements gathering sessions, understand complex business processes, and translate them into effective TM1 models.
Effective communicator who can work across business and technical teams, including Finance, Accounting, and IT.
Experience supporting end-to-end budgeting, forecasting, and planning cycles, including scenario modeling and driver-based planning.
Strong documentation and version control practices, including use of tools such as Git or TM1py where applicable.
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA, or PowerShell) to enhance automation and integration capabilities is a plus.
Exposure to Agile methodologies or experience working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement, optimize system performance, and champion best practices in Planning Analytics.
