Never send money to companies. Jobs on Himalayas will never require payment from applicants.

More than 135 years ago, we started with core values that never go out of style: listen, learn and help businesses and individuals reach their goals. These core values shape our culture, and we were recently Great Place to Work Certified because of our outstanding workplace culture and employee experience. As well, our financial strength and stability are key reasons Forbes named us one of the Best 100 Banks in America for the ninth consecutive year.
With more than $16 billion in assets and 135 branch locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California, we understand our role in the economy and take that responsibility seriously. In addition to offering a source of capital to personal banking clients and businesses of all sizes, we place a high importance on employee volunteerism and donate millions of dollars each year to community organizations.
As a Data Governance Risk Analyst at Banner Bank, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening how the Bank manages, governs, and uses data to understand and mitigate risk. You’ll sit at the intersection of Data Governance and Enterprise Risk Management, helping ensure data is trusted, well-managed, and aligned to enterprise risk standards. This role offers meaningful impact, cross functional collaboration, and the opportunity to shape a growing data-driven risk culture.

In this role you'll

  • Maintain and evolve the Bank’s data governance policies, standards, and metadata practices in partnership with data owners, IT teams, and business users.
  • You’ll support the ongoing maturity of the data risk governance framework, including data controls, standards, and data quality monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with IT, Data Governance, and business line partners to resolve data issues and ensure governance requirements are consistently met.
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that support enterprise-wide risk reporting across multiple risk disciplines.
  • Leverage Power Query, DAX, and optimized dataflows to ensure reporting accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and risk leaders to define risk taxonomy, metrics, and reporting requirements.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable insights and reporting solutions.
  • Serve as a Power BI subject matter expert within the Risk Division, promoting best practices and a strong data-driven culture.

What we're looking for

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field (Required).
  • You have four or more years of relevant experience in data analysis, data governance, or risk-related roles (Required).
  • Experience working in financial services is preferred.
  • You understand that an equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree

What helps you shine

  • You bring strong proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard development.
  • You have a solid understanding of data governance principles, data quality concepts, and risk management frameworks.
  • You’re comfortable working with structured data, SQL queries, and data preparation tools.
  • You communicate complex data and risk concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You have a keen attention to detail and can successfully juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • You apply strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills to real-world risk challenges.
  • You have working knowledge of Enterprise Risk, Model Risk, Compliance, AML/BSA, or Third-Party Risk frameworks, which is a plus.

What started in 1890 as a small thrift in Walla Walla has grown into a full-service financial institution that proudly serves communities across Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho. Over the last 130 years, Banner Bank has remained committed to its core values of listening, learning, and helping individuals and businesses reach their financial goals. With more than $15 billion in assets, we take pride in offering competitive banking products, which one might typically expect from larger banks, but with a level of personalized service that can only be provided by a community bank.

In addition to providing financial services like personal banking, home loans, and commercial banking, Banner Bank plays an active role in its communities. With a focus on community spirit, we supported over a thousand charitable causes last year alone, providing nearly $2 million in contributions and countless volunteer hours. We believe that our responsibilities extend beyond banking—we strive to nurture relationships and give back to the communities we serve, making them stronger and more vibrant.
