Currently, Avint LLC is seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented Dashboard requirements engineer in support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Continuous Diagnostic & Mitigation (CDM) Data Services Program. The CDM Data Services Program is a critical component of CISA’s national effort to ensure the defense and resilience of cyberspace. The CDM Data Services Program mission is to provide a standardized platform to collect, transform, and integrate cybersecurity data from relevant authoritative data sources into a coherent data, delivering actionable information into Agency and Federal Dashboards to identify risk areas in support of mitigation as well as to facilitate coordinated agency and national response to cyber-threats. The dashboard requirements engineer is responsible for taking contractual obligations as well as customer desires and translating them into technical requirements. The successful candidate will bring a consultative approach to requirements to improve the value of the of the dashboard systems. This position is also a thought leader in the practice of Big Data in solving our clients’ cyber security problems, coupled with demonstrated experience translating customer desires into technical requirements for dashboard solutions by providing a new approach to the team, presenting white papers and other solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and external stake holders to examine contractual requirements and decompose dashboard technical requirements to display cybersecurity posture information as part of the Dashboard Agile Release Train (ART)
  • Understand data sources of cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability (CVE) scanners, software scanners (CPE), network host discovery scanners, and other tools in order to define requirements which drive Kibana dashboard visualizations of this data
  • Work with customers to understand their needs and desires for the dashboard system and translate that into functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Work with the data architect to decompose requirements to the level of creating dashboard data targets based on the logical data model (LDM)
  • Analyze, decompose, and document all requirements for complex systems in order to satisfy contractual requirements and customer needs.
  • Act as the interface between government customers and dashboard engineers implementing the requirements as features, stories, and non-functional requirements of the dashboard system.
  • Utilize communication skills to gather needs from non-technical audiences and translate those needs into highly technical requirements which the dashboard engineers can implement.
  • Take high level requirements and break them down into the appropriate level of technical detail for dashboard engineers to implement.
  • Utilize tools such as JIRA and Microsoft Excel to document and track requirements in order to maintain trackability through the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) concepts of Epics, capabilities, features, stories, and non-functional requirements.
  • Brief internal and external stake holders on dashboard requirements, their decomposition, and origins
  • Ability to prioritize the implementation of requirements based on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) concepts.
  • Work with project managers to ensure requirements are being addressed in product design and implementation.
  • Employ problem solving skills to take a customer problem and create requirements that will drive a solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar field
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • At least 2 years of working with data platforms and systems (Elastic, Splunk, Azure Data Factory, Apache Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, SQL databases, etc.)
  • Understanding of Elasticsearch Kibana based dashboard systems and visualizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate non-technical needs and desires into technical requirements.
  • Knowledge of big data platforms and formats (elasticsearch , JSON, data lakes, etc.)
  • Understanding of data transformation and normalization
  • Possess excellent logical problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to be able to work with government customers and internal stake holders in a collaborative and consultative fashion
  • Log, track, and modify tickets in a ticketing system such as JIRA
  • Expertise in the Microsoft Office / Google Documents suite of software with an emphasis on spread sheet applications
  • Ability to independently perform research on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and cutting edge technological trends
  • Experience working with government contracting requirements documentation as well as customer derived feature requests
  • Must be a US citizen and pass a background investigation.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD)
