THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Specialist, Product Development to join our dynamic and growing Research, Nutrition, and Innovation (RNI) capability at AG1. Reporting to the Manager, Product Development, you will play a critical role in supporting various aspects of product development and innovation at AG1, with a key emphasis on product recipe management and specification creation to help guide, structure and organize in the forefront of our product lifecycle management system.

This role extends into being supportive in the creative realm of formulation work, where you will collaborate with other teams in and outside of the RNI capability as you support the product formulations based on the latest research, market trends, and customer preferences. Your contribution will play a key role in understanding the existing formulations within our PLM system and providing valuable insights to the cross-functional RNI teams. This will help ensure our products align with both our quality standards and the preferences of our consumers Your strategic insights, organizational skills and management acumen will play a pivotal role in our ongoing growth and success.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Specification Management

  • Oversee the creation, modification, and maintenance of product recipes in the product lifecycle management system and facilitate the approval workflow process for the appropriate parties.
  • Develop detailed specifications for raw materials, blends, and finished goods, considering both internal and external quality standards.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of recipe information, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to validate.
  • Collaborate closely with the Legal, Regulator, and Quality teams about industry regulations and changes to ensure compliance in specification creation.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Supporting in the development of new and existing product formulations within the PLM system.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Product Development and Regulatory teams by providing support in the evaluation and assessment process of suppliers for the suitability of new ingredients for product formulations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of recipe information align with stringent quality standards.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, the Research and Discovery team, Product Marketing and Education team, and other capabilities within AG1 to facilitate effective communication and cooperation in product development.
  • Collaborate with quality control and assurance teams to address any deviations or issues identified during data review.

Technical Documentation & Data Analysis

  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including product development reports, formulation records, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure clarity and accuracy in conveying complex technical information for transparent and well-documented processes.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of analytical data related to product development.
  • Apply general knowledge of analytical methods to ensure specifications are accurate for different attributes between physical, analytical, qualitative and contaminant testing.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience in an FDA-regulated, GMP manufacturing environment in the dietary supplement, nutritional, food and/or beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in operation of a PLM, ERP, or QMS system.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience helpful but not required.
  • Experience in technical writing including standard operating procedures, technical justifications, and specifications.
  • Advanced verbal and writing skills, organizational skills, and deductive critical thinking skills are required.
  • Proficient in Google Docs, MS Office programs, Product Lifecycle Management, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, planning, problem-solving, and follow-up skills; must be able to interface positively with team members, company departments, and external vendors.
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborator in a diverse work group.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $70,000 - $86,000 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is only one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
