Overview of Position

The Benefits Analyst plays an essential role in supporting day-to-day benefit operations for Assurant’s Retirement, Health & Welfare, and Wellbeing programs with an emphasis on Retirement and Financial plans. The benefits analyst partners regularly with Assurant’s benefits, payroll, HRIS, legal, People Experience Center teams and external vendors. The Benefits Analyst accesses internal and vendor systems and utilizes all Microsoft Office programs to run reports, perform analysis, administer programs and run core benefits processes in essential areas such as compliance, budgeting, accounting, administration, data analysis, employee experience and communications.

What will my duties and responsibilities be in this job?

Compliance, Data and Analytics - 45%

  • Collect, compile, synthesize and analyze large data sets, to support an array of projects and initiatives including audits, testing, regulatory requirements, participant engagement reporting and executive dashboards. Also owns the preparation, validation, and ongoing management of the employee benefits census provided to the benefits consulting partner, ensuring accurate and timely data to support renewals, compliance, reporting and strategic benefits planning.

  • Through data analysis, identify trends and opportunities for product enhancements, process improvements and streamlining.

  • Support essential compliance related activities including but not limited to DB and DC audits, government filings such as 10-K/10-Q/11-K, form 5500 series and PBGC filings, and pension plan valuations.

  • Lead the annual 401(k) Plan and Dependent Care FSA non-discrimination testing process.

  • Work with internal department(s) to perform quarterly qualified and non-qualified DC plan cost projections.

  • Manage the benefits department’s compliance calendar, ensuring all deadlines are met.

  • Maintain data accuracy, integrity and connectivity between internal (e.g., ADP, Workday) and external (e.g., Vanguard) systems.

Operations and Administration - 45%

  • Support vendor management activities to ensure proper plan administration, the accuracy and timeliness of employee communications, reporting integrity, and the resolution of participant escalations.

  • Maintain process documentation (SOPs) to ensure no single point of failure; update processes as improvements and changes are made.

  • Partner with internal People Experience Center (PEC) to identify opportunities for simplification and automation while serving as point person for escalations.

  • Process consultant and vendor invoices and prepare for approval by authorized signors; continuously track against budget and historical costs for the purpose of identifying and resolving discrepancies.

  • Serve as internal/external liaison for Total Rewards Statement maintenance, management, and evolution.

  • Assume role of Financial Wellbeing liaison supporting the Company’s Wellbeing strategy.

  • Serve as content editor and administrator for MyAssurantBenefits.com, ensuring content is accurate, current, well‑structured, and aligned with plan documents, open enrollment updates, and vendor changes.

Other - 10%

  • Support the larger Total Rewards, Health & Wellbeing team with special projects and key department initiatives including Open Enrollment, implementations of new programs, system upgrades and integrations.

  • Assist with mergers & acquisitions.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in benefits administration, total rewards, compensation & benefits, or related HR analytical roles.

Other Requirements:

  • Advanced Excel skills including formula reading/writing, pivot tables, V-lookups.

  • Benefits audits, compliance filing familiarity.

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Familiarity with Workday and ADP.

  • Vendor management experience.

Pay Range:

$64,900.00 - $108,200.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
