The Software Engineer supports Public Health Systems in advancing population health management and healthcare delivery through the development of public health IT systems, health information exchange and interoperability solutions. Specifically, the Software Engineer develops software projects and is responsible for system and database administration.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain specific features and functions in selected software.
- Develop, implement, and maintain all forms.
- Develop, implement, and maintain reports.
- Develop, implement, and maintain other MDSS background features and functions.
- Coordinate and produce release scripts.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in computer science, software engineering, or related area
- 5 years minimum experience working with Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS).
- Database backend administration experience, specifically with the National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC).
- Implementation experience
- PCORnet model expertise
- Oracle experience
- This position requires routine operation of standard office equipment, including telephones and personal computers. The employee must be able to successfully work under time pressure and withstand frequent interruptions.

- At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
- Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
- If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Novi, or Portland this role will be hybrid (in office on Wednesdays - collaboration days).
- Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
- Employees working remotely must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace free from distractions with a mobile device that allows for productive and efficient conduct of business.
