This is a remote position.
The Data Architect will support the Louisiana State Office of Technology in designing and managing a comprehensive data framework that governs how data is stored, accessed, and integrated across the organization. This role is responsible for establishing the vision and blueprint for the organization's data ecosystem, ensuring consistency and integrity across all data sources. The Data Architect will lead efforts in data modeling and design, software development support, and database administration. This position requires deep expertise in SQL, ETL pipeline development, and data architecture design to drive modernization and integration of new data technologies into existing IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the organization's overall data architecture vision and strategic blueprint.
- Develop and enforce policies governing data storage, access, and governance across the enterprise.
- Coordinate and integrate multiple data sources to ensure consistency and reliability throughout the organization.
- Lead data modeling and database design efforts to support operational and analytical needs.
- Build and optimize ETL pipelines to support data movement, transformation, and loading processes.
- Write and maintain complex SQL queries to support reporting, analysis, and data operations.
- Integrate new data technologies into existing IT infrastructure with minimal disruption to operations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify data requirements and translate them into scalable architectural solutions.
- Support database administration activities to ensure data availability, performance, and security.
- Document data architecture standards, data flows, and design decisions for organizational reference.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years of professional experience in data ecosystems, including writing SQL queries, building ETL pipelines, and designing data architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with public health agencies such as CDC, NIH, or State Departments of Health to modernize legacy data infrastructures.
