AFL

AFL is a global manufacturer and service provider offering end-to-end fiber optic solutions, including cables, connectivity, and equipment for the energy, service provider, and enterprise markets.

About AFL

The story of AFL began in 1984, born from a strategic joint venture between two industry giants: the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) and Fujikura Ltd. of Japan. Originally established as Alcoa Fujikura Ltd., the company set out with a singular focus on manufacturing fiber optic ground wire (OPGW) to serve the electric utility industry. From these humble beginnings in a facility in Duncan, South Carolina, the company embarked on a journey of rapid expansion and technological innovation that would eventually position it as a global leader in the telecommunications and energy sectors.

A pivotal moment in the company's history arrived in 2005 when Fujikura Ltd. assumed 100% ownership, integrating AFL fully into its global network while retaining the company's headquarters in South Carolina. This transition catalyzed a new era of growth, allowing AFL to diversify its portfolio significantly. Today, the company has evolved far beyond its original product line, offering an extensive array of end-to-end solutions that include fiber optic cables, transmission and substation accessories, outside plant equipment, and advanced test and inspection gear. With operations spanning the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific, AFL now employs thousands of associates worldwide, continuing its mission to connect communities with innovative technology and exceptional service.
