Position Overview For the AIOps / Observability team we are looking for a highly motivated Cloud Operations Engineering Intern to join our team. As a Cloud Operations Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for supporting us in enhancing our observability and visualization. You will work with experienced Senior Cloud Operations engineers and under direct supervision of Lead Cloud Operations Engineer. The ideal candidate will have solid understanding of observability tooling and Cloud based SaaS applications.
Capstone Overview Capstone project “Dashboards as Code” aims to convert our observability dashboards into a source code with suitable dashboard creation language. Objectives: Phase 1: - Analyze and document current dashboards - Create an inventory of which data sources, panel types, queries are used in dashboards - Document panels in error or no data and clean up errors - Present findings to team
Phase 2: - Document conversion process for selected two dashboards to a selected dashboard definition language - With help of team, convert those two selected dashboards and verify they are working - Validate and fix (if necessary) conversion documentation - Present results to the team
Deliverables: - Inventory and assessment documentation for current observability dashboards - Documentation for dashboard conversion process - Source code of two selected dashboards
By completion of this project, the candidate will gain hands-on experience on observability tools, visualization. The candidate will also get understanding of “Infrastructure as Code” principals and implement two dashboards as “Code”.Organization will get benefit of having assessment and documentation of current observability dashboards, having “Dashboards as Code” conversion process documented and two sample dashboards converted to code. This will be great help for team to convert rest of the dashboards easily.
Responsibilities
- In Capstone project “Dashboards as Code” scope:
- Support team by analyzing and documenting current observability dashboards
- Document panels that are not showing any data and with the guidance from team, document which one needs fix or needs to be removed
- Document metric and log queries used in dashboards
- Assist team to convert them into a source code in proper dashboard language
- Working with AIOps team:
- Assist in task tickets, documentation to maintain
- Assist in “Knowledge Transfer” documentation:
- Make sure that it is easy to follow by someone who does not have enough background but via the documentation able to execute procedure documented
- Make sure that, in its own context, document contains all necessary pointers to external information to make a complete picture of the topic
Nice to Have
- Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Familiarity with cloud computing / Cloud based SaaS solutions and hands-on experience with an Observability / Monitoring tool (like Grafana, DataDog, etc) is a plus
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work in a timely manner
