Zeynep Reyyan Maciter

I’m an undergraduate student in Molecular Biology and Genetics with strong foundations in genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, clinical genetics, and biostatistics. I’m drawn to research that bridges molecular insights with real-world patient context and clear data stewardship.

During my Clinical & Research Internship at UC Davis Health/UC Davis Medical Center, I observed and contributed to clinical perspectives on neuromuscular and rehabilitative disorders. I worked alongside multidisciplinary teams on patient care support, data documentation, and genetic background analysis of specific clinical conditions.

My undergraduate thesis explored genetic and epigenetic approaches in muscular dystrophy, focusing on exon specificity and phenotypic heterogeneity in Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophies. I enjoy turning complex genomic information into actionable hypotheses, using bioinformatics databases and literature-driven reasoning to inform clinical relevance.
