Yuki Azaad Tomar

I’m an Associate Professor in Development Communication, Extension and Journalism at the Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi (2020 onwards). My foundation is a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication (Indra Gandhi National Open University), and over the years I’ve moved from Assistant Professor (2008–2020) to shaping research and teaching focused on media for social transformation.

I lead and contribute to multi-country and community-centered research—such as serving as Co-Principal Investigator for a Pfizer Health Research Foundation project on adolescents’ COVID-19 vaccination behavior, and as Principal Investigator for “Participatory Communication for Ward Transformation.” I also worked as a Co-PI on research on “Assessment, Awareness, and Action against Female Foeticide,” combining stakeholder engagement with evidence for action. Alongside academics, I produce films through Films Division and other outlets, creating documentary, animated, and socially driven narratives, including works on sanitation, open defecation, heritage conservation, and community issues. I bring a strong commitment to gender sensitivity, participatory communication, and measurable impact—supported by faculty development in research methodology and ICT-based e-teaching and e-learning.
