Anirudh Sharma

For 4 years I was a senior product designer at Dainik Bhaskar, which is the largest news group in India. Our news app has millions of daily readers, mostly on mid range Android phones in small cities. I worked on subscriptions, discovery, onboarding and the internal tools our teams use.

The work I am known for started with field research in Bhopal. We found most readers did not even know paid plans existed. So I moved the plans onto the paywall. Checkout page views went up 24.7%, and 9.8% of those extra readers paid. I also owned plan pages, checkout, ₹1 intro offers and coupons. Intro offer conversions went up 19.5% in the first quarter.

Every feature I shipped had a second side, the tool the team uses to run it. I designed the CMS our newsroom works in, the experiment builder the product team uses to set up tests, and the story ring tool editors publish with. Story rings took home feed clicks from 1-2% to around 9%.

I helped grow our design system to 444 components and 34 colour variables, with light and dark mode and Hindi and Gujarati type. I prototype in React, and I use AI tools every day.

Before Bhaskar I did 3 years of fully remote freelance work, UI and UX for four products across e-commerce, SaaS and mobile. I also build my own tools, like Orion, a Figma plugin that builds a full design system in one run. My work is at voleshads.com
