I'm a system administrator, mostly working with VoIP. Day to day that means setting up VMs, networking, NAT rules, and VPNs so voice traffic gets through and stays private, across an environment of hundreds of clients and servers.


In my current role I maintain the infrastructure that keeps clients' FreePBX servers running. I've set up FreePBX from scratch, including Twilio SIP trunk setup, and integrated telephony with a CRM. I deploy and manage Docker-based application components, configure STUN/TURN so WebRTC softphones connect through NAT, and use Wireshark to trace VoIP and application-layer problems down to the packet. On a busy day I field dozens of support tickets, and when something breaks I go through the application logs and run SQL queries to find out what actually happened, not just what the alert says.

Before this I was at Hoster.kz, one of the largest hosting providers in Kazakhstan, where I administered Linux and the core services around it: mail, DNS, Nginx and Apache, MySQL. I handled monitoring with Nagios, Zabbix, and Grafana, and automated routine tasks with Ansible.

I have a broad view of IT infrastructure partly because I don't only touch it at work. I run a home lab and use cloud infrastructure for my own projects, which is where I picked up Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and MySQL.
