I've spent 20+ years building distributed backend systems and infrastructure, including real-time AdTech platforms operating at millions of requests per second.
At GIPHY, I helped build the microservice infrastructure powering the platform at global scale. I designed a targeting decision engine and pacing throttler that reduced 97–99% of bidding calls and saved $500K per month.
I also redesigned real-time content-safety scrubbing from 140 ms to 1 ms, built cache coordination across Fastly, Redis, and Memcached, and standardized production observability through reusable developer-facing tooling. I mentor engineers moving from PHP to Scala and lead cross-team work in scalability, reliability, and performance.
Previously at DataXu, I worked on a real-time bidding platform processing 4M+ RPS and built an Edge Cloud service operating at 100K RPS on AWS, saving $40K per month. I also contribute to Rust and gRPC observability tooling for Meteroid.
