Tom Hancock
@tomhancock
Government relations and communications professional with extensive public sector experience in strategic analysis and issues management.
What I'm looking for
I have spent my career working across government relations, public policy, communications, and stakeholder engagement. Over the years, I have advised senior leaders on legislative, regulatory, and public policy issues, helping organizations navigate complex operating environments and make informed decisions.
My experience spans provincial and federal governments, a Crown corporation, and ministerial offices. In those roles, I have worked closely with elected officials, senior executives, regulators, municipalities, industry representatives, and community stakeholders. This breadth of experience has given me a practical understanding of how government decisions are made and how effective relationships contribute to successful policy outcomes.
Much of my work has focused on analyzing legislation, assessing risks, identifying emerging issues, and providing strategic advice. I have prepared briefing materials for ministers, executives, and senior officials, supported governance and regulatory processes, and contributed to policy development on a range of complex issues.
One of my strengths is translating technical, legislative, and policy information into clear, practical guidance. Whether responding to emerging issues, supporting organizational change, or developing recommendations for decision-makers, I focus on distilling complex information into concise analysis that supports action.
Throughout my career, I have been drawn to roles that require both strategic thinking and collaboration. Working across departments, agencies, and stakeholder groups has reinforced the importance of clear communication, sound analysis, and building consensus to achieve organizational and public policy objectives.
