Forensic Psychology honors student applying analytical insight, active listening, and de-escalation skills in mental health roles.
What I'm looking for
I am a motivated Honors student in Forensic Psychology and Criminology at the University of Zimbabwe, with a strong academic foundation and hands-on experience supporting people in high-stress environments. My experience centers on applying analytical thinking, effective communication, and active listening to understand human behavior and reduce risk.
In my Forensic Psychology Attachee role at the Chikurubi Maximum and Security Prison Psychiatric Unit, I assisted with case file collection, supported clinical intake activities before a Mental State Examination, and helped facilitate group therapies for young people struggling with drug and substance abuse. I also participated in family therapy sessions and used de-escalation techniques with high-risk patients through calm verbal communication to prevent crisis escalation. As a Research Coodinator for the Varsity Mental health champions Club (VMHC), I helped identify and plan relevant research topics, monitored and evaluated club programs, maintained ethical standards and participant confidentiality, and collaborated with external organizations while creating supportive environments during mental health awareness sessions and peer support interactions.
