What I'm looking for

I am seeking a role that allows me to further develop literacy programs and collaborate with educators to enhance student learning outcomes.

I am a passionate Reading Specialist with a strong commitment to enhancing literacy skills among elementary students. Currently, I implement a reading intervention program at a Title 1 school, focusing on students with reading disabilities such as dyslexia. My approach includes utilizing various curricula, including SIPPS, KidzLit, and RazPlus, to improve phonics, reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills.

In my role as a YMCA Reads Site Coordinator, I have successfully managed a team of paid and volunteer workers, collaborated with school administration and parents, and created individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs. I take pride in fostering strong relationships between schools and families, which I believe is crucial for student success. My experience also includes hosting family literacy events and leading professional development sessions, showcasing my dedication to continuous improvement in education.
