I built Qalami, a marking assistant for English-medium and bilingual schools in the Gulf, from the first commit to its public launch on 1 October 2026. It reads handwritten essays in English or Arabic and drafts marks and feedback against each school’s rubric; teachers review and approve every paper before a mark counts. I run the product, database, billing, and school emails.
Before Qalami, I wrote practice material and parent reports at Scholarly Training, where I saw how much of a teacher’s week goes into marking. I started in game programming at Tableflip Entertainment AB, and now mostly write TypeScript with Next.js, Postgres, and the Claude API. I focus on access controls, children’s data retention and deletion, and tests that catch broken rules. I work in English and Arabic.
