Provided logistics templates for infrastructure within the lab in preparation for CAP inspection. Wrote 12 IQCPs, revamped existing procedures, and wrote new procedures. Prepared training documents, 6-month, 12-month, and annual competencies, and placed adequate QC procedures and recording forms.

Responsible for the technical completion of every aspect of the clinical microbiology laboratory, including systems like BioMerieux Mass Spectroscopy, Biomerieux Biofire, and Cepheid PCR assays. Performed plate reading for various cultures and managed QC and maintenance.

Managed four master's level FTEs performing clinical and research projects, processing approximately 100 Borrelia blood cultures weekly. Developed and improved culture methods and staining techniques for Borrelia, resulting in five publications and three patent submissions. Delineated issues in PCR technology and developed a LAMP PCR.

Led a staff of 25 FTEs in Clinical Microbiology, ensuring 24/7 coverage. Updated SOPs, QC, and QA for CAP inspection readiness and implemented molecular diagnostics testing. Developed an automatic cascade reporting scheme for antimicrobial reporting using Vitek 2 and Meditech.

Oversaw Microbiology, Mycology, Parasitology, Serology, Virology, and Molecular Diagnostics, managing five direct and 100 indirect employees. Implemented new methods, passed CAP inspection, and developed SOPs. Planned and implemented six Vitek 2 instruments, saving $120,000, and implemented Lean Lab, saving $30,000.

Led the laboratory by maintaining detailed knowledge of clinical technical procedures and overseeing 15 FTEs. Developed molecular diagnostics assays for viral particles in CSF, reducing turnaround time to two hours. Taught Medical Microbiology, Mycology, and Parasitology in the Clinical Laboratory Science School, achieving 100% student matriculation and 95% ASCP certification.

Conceived, developed, and directed the Pathogen Detection Program, conducting feasibility research and collaborating with university investigators. Designed and developed methods for detecting microbes from environmental samples based on DNA, antigen/antibody, and receptor/adhesin interactions. Utilized equipment such as BIAcore, PCR, and DNA sequencers.

Completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Pathology. The program provided advanced knowledge and research skills in the diagnosis and study of diseases.

Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. The curriculum focused on laboratory techniques and diagnostic procedures essential for medical technologists.
