Shalom Murewa

I’m a dedicated counsellor and mental health educator with over 3 years of experience in mental health and gender advocacy. I bring strong counselling and listening skills, and I’m committed to ethical practice, including confidentiality and informed consent.

At Society for Pre and Post Natal Services, I spearheaded awareness campaigns in Ruwa and surrounding areas and delivered daily mental health education sessions for mothers and youth. I enhanced community engagement, increased the number of individuals seeking counselling, and provided individual counselling sessions for all ages using an integrative counselling approach.

I also conducted pre and post HIV counselling and facilitated discussions on issues affecting young people—especially young girls—covering SGBV, GBV, sexual reproductive health, period poverty, and child marriages. I enjoy collaborating with other health care professionals to support smooth referral patterns and holistic treatment plans for complex mental health needs.

More recently, I worked as an Enumerator for Plan International in Kwekwe, collecting data using both quantitative (commcare) and qualitative (focused group discussions) techniques through community and facility based interviews under the “body my future” project. With a B.Sc Honours Degree in Psychology from Great Zimbabwe University and ongoing professional certifications, I’m motivated to contribute to women empowerment, gender equality, and social impact.
