I’m a Biotechnology intern currently working as a Downstream Processing (DSP) Intern at Biocon Limited in API and peptide manufacturing, within GMP-regulated biopharmaceutical production environments. I focus on translating upstream outputs into purified final products while maintaining efficiency, consistency, and regulatory standards.
My DSP work involves downstream processing workflows for protein purification and bioprocessing operations, including solid-liquid separation (filtration, centrifugation), concentration and buffer exchange (ultrafiltration and diafiltration), and purification using chromatography (HPLC, hydrophobic interaction chromatography, and ion exchange chromatography). I also build a strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), process documentation, and quality compliance.
Alongside industry training, I’ve pursued research through internships including a Research Intern role at IIT Guwahati. I also completed a Summer Research trainee position at CCMB’s developmental biology unit under Dr. Sonal Nagarkar Jaiswal, working with model systems like Drosophila developing brain and human neural stem cells.
I further gained neuroscience research exposure as a Summer Research fellow at JNCASR (SRFP) under Dr. Sheeba Vasu, investigating social behavior effects in Drosophila with tools like DAM (Drosophila Activity Monitoring) and experiment design. I bring hands-on lab experience and technical writing alongside a drive to deepen my bioprocessing and research capabilities.
