Samantha Schwer

I've provided bedside nursing care at Riley Children’s Hospital and Community East Hospital, supporting pediatric and adult patients across complex inpatient settings.

At Community East, I stepped into charge nurse responsibilities, supported staff, helped run a medical-surgical floor, and expanded my cardiac monitoring knowledge. I’m experienced with differing charting systems, medication dispensing systems, hospital policies, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

My clinical background includes pulmonary nursing, dialysis, step-down ICU, telemetry, medical-surgical care, pediatric nursing, tracheostomies, ventilators, HiFlo, CPAP, BiPAP, and end-of-life care. I’ve cared for patients with cystic fibrosis, SMA, ESRD, and viral illnesses while prioritizing advocacy, education, safety, and a positive hospital stay for patients and families.

I also coach and support new nurses, have charge nurse training, and volunteered to float to the Methodist COVID ICU during the pandemic. I’m motivated by helping people and by workplaces that foster education and put patients first.
