A product or design leadership role that spans both. As AI compresses both roles, I think one leader should own both, as I have.
Drawn to startups building complex products: connected hardware, multi-platform apps, etc.
I thrive in teams that debate openly, give candid feedback and trust people to own outcomes.
Looking for a remote opportunity with some flexibility.

Salma Zacky
@salmazacky
Design & product lead who grew from intern to Head of Design & Product in 7 years, shipping complex ideas from equine IoT to consumer apps.
What I'm looking for
I’ve worked across product, design and delivery, which is why I believe the roles belong together. Over seven years at Atlas Labs, I grew from intern to Junior Project Manager, Design Lead, and finally Head of Design & Product Development. I set product direction while staying hands-on in UI/UX and graphic design, and I led a multidisciplinary team spanning UI/UX, product management, creative direction and 3D visualisation across Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Nigeria.
Key products:
Horcery: equine AI monitoring solutions connecting IoT hardware with mobile and web apps, serving businesses and individual owners. I led design end to end across every surface. Within the first year of launch, 400+ devices were deployed across the US, including 100+ at Wellington, a premier equine facility.
Let’s Play: a consumer flag football app for iOS and Android, built for four user groups with competing needs: players, parents, team managers and referees. Fully redesigned and built in 6 months, reaching 200+ installs by June 2026.
A stealth-mode marketplace platform that makes high-value horse sales safe and transparent for buyers and sellers. Designed and prototyped end-to-end in under 4 weeks.
Within my first year at Atlas Labs, I founded its Architectural Visualisation department and grew it from zero into a team that secured a six-figure annual retainer, while also managing bespoke enterprise software projects for clients.
Since leaving Atlas Labs, I’ve been building NopePad, an AI documentation tool that turns doctors’ consultations into prescriptions, referrals and clinical notes. It’s been a hands-on test of AI-native product work, from designing for time-poor clinicians to working around model limits for a Sri Lankan user base. I’m now looking to bring that experience into a full-time leadership role on a larger team.
How I work: Figma, Pen.dev and Codex for design and prototyping, design systems built on existing component libraries, Linear for delivery, and PostHog for product analytics. I use AI tools daily as a thinking partner for critique, research and faster iteration across both design and product work. I am not attached to any of the tools listed above - I test new tools as they emerge and switch when they genuinely improve how the team works.
What interests me: connected hardware, multi-platform consumer products, and sport, health and wellbeing. I’m especially interested in how AI is reshaping the way small teams decide what to build and build it.
