What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a medical laboratory or research role where I can strengthen bench diagnostics and molecular methods, contribute to infectious disease/AMR research, and grow within a team that prioritizes ethics, biosafety, and reliable lab documentation.

I’m a junior laboratory scientist trained in microbiology and focused on virology, infectious diseases, and tuberculosis research. I completed a BSc in Microbiology (University of Lagos) and a thesis on “Isolation and Identification of Enterococcus from Dairy Products” in Lagos.

In my laboratory experience, I perform bench-work including phlebotomy, Full Blood Count analysis (FBC), malaria rapid testing, Widal testing, pregnancy testing, and urinalysis, while keeping strict confidentiality standards. I also contribute to sample handling, documentation, and infection control/biosafety practices.

Through research internships at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, I supported virology and molecular biology workflows, including HIV-focused studies, ELISA-based testing, gel electrophoresis, and tuberculosis work using GeneXpert. I’ve worked with Mycobacterium tuberculosis culture/monitoring, Ziehl–Neelsen staining, DNA extraction, and primer design, aligned with my interests in AMR, drug resistance, drug development, and healthcare policy.

Research Intern (Infectious Diseases)

Nigerian Institute of Medical Research

Sep 2023 - Oct 2023 (1 month)

Supported infectious-disease testing on clinical samples, including hepatitis and other microbial infections using ELISA and gel electrophoresis. Performed serological and microbiological testing per SOPs, maintained sample integrity, and followed biosafety and infection-control practices.

NR

Research Intern (Tuberculosis)

Nigerian Institute of Medical Research

Sep 2021 - Dec 2021 (3 months)

Conducted rapid testing for Mycobacterium tuberculosis and performed Ziehl–Neelsen staining with laboratory quality control. Carried out culturing/monitoring of M. tuberculosis, detected multiple-resistant variants, and performed DNA extraction and primer design for gene amplification.
