What I'm looking for

I’m looking for applied AI engineering roles focused on evals, retrieval, agent tooling, and knowledge systems.

At MemberPress, I own answer quality for a Claude-powered advisor: the curated knowledge it draws on, the retrieval that grounds it in customer data, and the evaluations that tell us whether it worked. I’ve written 214 operator playbook entries and developed the taxonomy and editorial standards that shape how the advisor retrieves information.

I also build the tooling behind the product, including a knowledge editor and evaluation interfaces, using Python, TypeScript, and SvelteKit. I found that our citation metric measured whether a source entered the context window, not whether the model used it—so it wasn’t measuring what we cared about.

Before moving into applied AI, I handled complex customer issues at MemberPress, including Tier 3 support escalations. Outside work, I build agent-memory, a file-based memory system for AI coding agents that I use in my daily work, and write about evals, retrieval, and context engineering at omarelhawary.com.
