Nikita Mutovkin
@nikitamutovkin
Senior Software Engineer at SLB who built a Python backend for physics-based modeling, from job orchestration to validated releases.
What I'm looking for
At SLB, I designed and built a Python backend around an in-house physics-based inverse-modeling engine. Its services orchestrate modeling jobs, track their status, and reconcile inconsistent results; the backend is now rolling out to an initial group of engineers.
I also built an acoustic wave-simulation planning tool end to end, connecting a 3D simulation engine to compute jobs and a Plotly Dash interface. I set up Docker-based delivery and GitLab CI/CD, including automated tests and validation of model outputs against reference results.
My graduate research at MIPT × SLB focused on passive acoustic noise logging, forward modeling, inverse problems, and signal processing. I also worked on C++/CUDA acoustic wave simulation code using the spectral element method, and hold a PhD in computational mathematics.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Designed and built a Python backend (FastAPI, asyncio) for physics-based inverse modeling, including job orchestration and synchronization services. Owned architecture decisions, set up Docker and GitLab CI/CD, and migrated a legacy application to Yandex Cloud.
Graduate Research
MIPT × SLB joint MSc/PhD programs
Jan 2014 - Jan 2020 (6 years)
Conducted PhD research on passive acoustic noise logging, including forward modeling, inverse problems, and signal processing. Developed and optimized high-performance C++/CUDA code for acoustic wave simulation.
