I built three production-style backend systems solo: a vector search engine, a distributed payment API, and a multithreaded data pipeline using C++ and Java/Spring Boot.
For VectorDB, I cut 768-dimension vector retrieval from O(n) to O(log n) by benchmarking brute-force, KD-Tree, and HNSW indexing. I designed the complete pipeline—from embedding generation and indexed storage to REST APIs and retrieval—with no framework scaffolding.
I also eliminated race conditions in a multi-hop payment API with a self-built three-thread JUnit5 concurrency harness, and built a multithreaded processing pipeline that achieved linear throughput scaling by reducing lock contention.
