M Pienaar

I am a dynamic Registered Psychologist with over 18 years of experience in both counselling and academia. My expertise lies in individual and family psychotherapy, as well as in the clinical supervision of master's students in clinical psychology. I have coordinated therapies in private practice and have taught at esteemed institutions such as the University of the Western Cape and Cornerstone Institute. My academic journey culminated in a PhD that focused on the psychosocial needs of first-generation students, which I am eager to leverage to enhance clients' mental wellbeing and quality of life.

Throughout my career, I have held various positions that have allowed me to develop a robust skill set. As a Counselling Psychologist in private practice, I execute psychotherapeutic interventions emphasizing individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, alongside comprehensive family therapy. My role as a Senior Lecturer has involved curriculum development, lecturing at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising postgraduate research. I have published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences, showcasing my commitment to advancing psychological knowledge and practice.
