Moyukh Sarkar

I've supported coal resource exploration at CMPDIL, Coal India Ltd., using ArcGIS, MoD Flow, Minex, and AutoCAD for an active mine study area. I contoured RL, FRL, and Gross Calorific Value across coal seams, assessed coal quality through laboratory testing, and participated in drilling and borehole surveys.

I have completed my B.Sc. in Earth Sciences at UPES, focused on glaciology, geomorphology, and applied GIS and remote sensing. My work combines field-based data collection with geospatial modelling to interpret terrain and satellite data.

My research includes a landslide-damming case study in Kinnaur’s Satluj Valley, integrating satellite imagery, rainfall data, FEM slope-stability modelling, and Voellmy debris-flow simulation. I have also mapped population density and road accessibility in Mysore City to develop planning-relevant recommendations.

Beyond geoscience, I've progressed from member to Secretary of the UPES SEG Student Chapter. Seven-plus high-altitude Himalayan treks and a decade of landscape and monochrome photography continue to shape how I observe landscapes.
